Macon, Ga. – The third-seeded Furman women's lacrosse team was eliminated from the Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship Friday evening after a 19-14 defeat to the No. 2 seed High Point Panthers in the semifinals from Mercer's Five Star Stadium.
Furman's season ends with an 8-10 record. High Point improves to 12-5 overall and advances to Sunday's championship game and will face top-seeded Mercer at 12 p.m.
The Panthers trailed 13-11 with 6:13 remaining in the third quarter before reeling off seven consecutive goals over the next 14:46 to break the game open with an 18-13 advantage. High Point closed out the contest on an 8-1 run and outscored Furman 3-1 in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers opened the game on a 6-2 run, and would lead by three after the first quarter, before the Paladins answered with an 8-3 run of their own to hold a 10-9 advantage at halftime. Furman scored seven times in the second quarter including four from first team All-Big South selection
Anna Roser, who would go on to become the Paladins' single-season leader in goals scored during the contest.

Hannah Dintino added a goal apiece in the second quarter with
Audrey Smith giving Furman a one-goal lead with four seconds left before intermission.
High Point started the second half with back-to-back goals from Esprit Cha and Mandy Brockamp before Roser and
Sophia Buzelis, another first team All-Big South selection, followed with three consecutive goals to put the Paladins back in front, 13-11, with 6:13 left in the third quarter.
Five different Panthers scored over the last 18:59 including two goals each from Allie Connally, Shannon Smith, and Jordan Miles.
For the second straight game, Roser scored seven goals to lead Furman offensively. Buzelis, who went on to win a team best seven draws, added two goals and
Reynolds Hester dished out a career high three assists. Three different Paladins picked up two ground balls and caused one turnover apiece. In goal,
Lily Rathbun, who also became Furman's single-season ground ball leader, and
Sailor Henderson combined for nine saves.
Miles, Cha, and Brockamp all scored a team high four goals for High Point while Cha totaled two assists. Cha posted six points to lead the Panthers. Goalies Ava Welsh and Joy Coffey registered five saves.
The Paladins concluded the game with 18 draws and 10 ground balls.
