Dins Day Produces Big Win For Furman Athletics

Over 1,900 Donations Net $468,211

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- With the strength of over 1,900 donations, Furman University Athletics paced a highly successful, 10th annual Dins Day, it was announced today by Erin Wissing, senior associate athletics director and executive director of athletics development.

Celebrated on Tuesday, April 23, Dins Day serves to drive participation in giving and fundraising to advance the university's mission of ensuring all students have the opportunity to experience The Furman Advantage.

Paladin Athletics received 1,993 gifts, which totaled $468,211, representing 54 percent of the donor participation and 60 percent of the dollars raised for the university on Dins Day.

"Dins Day has become such an important day for Furman," said Erin Wissing, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Development and Alumni Relations.  "Our athletic teams have come to rely heavily on the dollars this day generates, and the Furman faithful continue to show up in big ways. We are deeply grateful for our donors' generosity and are so proud of our teams' commitment to inspiring the greatest Dins Day donor participation we have ever seen.

"For the institution's top ten funds supported on Dins Day to include eight of our teams is incredible and is yet another testament to how valuable and impactful Division I athletics is to the Furman experience."

In addition, Dins Day 2024 featured numerous university-sponsored challenges, several of which were claimed by athletics programs:

Furman's highly successful cross country / track & field program paced the field in participation, while strength training and conditioning ranked second, football fourth, and cheerleading fifth.  Men's basketball ranked sixth among programs in donor participation, with volleyball seventh, the Paladin Scholarship Fund eighth, and men's golf 10th.

Volleyball topped all programs in funds raised with $68,530.
