Greenville, S.C. – The Paladin men's soccer team will kick off Furman's United FU World Tour on Sunday when it hosts Virginia Tech in the second half of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.
Kickoff for Sunday's match is slated for approximately 4:15 p.m., following the women's team's 2 p.m. contest versus USC Upstate, and admission is free. The Furman community is encouraged to represent their country of origin with jerseys, flags, and other apparel.
International student organizations from the Student Diversity Council (SDC) will be setup at the match and the first 50 Furman students who represent their country at the game will receive a BOGO coupon from Holy Molli. The first 150 students in the gate will receive a "United FU" World Tour t-shirt and the first 50 can pick up a free food truck voucher. The United FU campaign is intended to highlight Furman's diverse international student community and Sunday's opening event of the campaign was coordinated by Furman athletics and the SDC.
Furman enters Sunday's match at 2-1-1 on the season while the Hokies arrive in Greenville, S.C., at 3-0-1. The Paladins dropped a 2-0 decision at Charlotte on Monday evening. Virginia Tech earned a 2-2 draw at nationally-ranked Kentucky on Monday before returning home to claim a 2-1 win over Presbyterian on Thursday night.
Sunday's match marks the first meeting between the Paladins and Hokies. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ and live statistics will be available through StatBroadcast. Links for the live stream and live stats can be accessed at FurmanPaladins.com.
