"I'm proud of the guys for getting the shutout on the road," said Paladin head coach
Doug Allison. "Anytime you go on the road in conference play and get a shutout and score three goals it's a good result. It was nice to see Grayson get his first goal, a game-winner, and it was good to score two team goals after that. We look forward to another busy week coming up."
The three-goal performance was the third straight for the Paladins and fourth time in the last five matches that Furman netted at least three goals. Furman outshot the hosts 16-6 and managed an 11-2 edge in shots on goal with VMI failing to force redshirt-freshman
Ivan Horvat into a save until the final minute of the match. Horvat finished with a pair of saves to record his third solo shutout of the season while Zack Murphy posted eight saves for the Keydets.
The Paladins step out of conference play to take on UNC Asheville on Tuesday. Kickoff at Greenwood Field in Asheville, N.C., is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
