CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Furman men's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule this weekend securing eight wins at the UTC Steve Baras Invite hosted by Chattanooga at the Champions Club.
The Paladins concluded the three-day tournament with six singles wins and two doubles triumphs before weather affected the final day of competition on Sunday.
Furman had four players compete at the UTC Steve Baras Invite in
Evan Duggal,
Alex Han, Barnabas Sift, and
Nico Snyder.
The Paladins were one of 11 teams competing along with Austin Peay, Chattanooga, The Citadel, Jacksonville State, UNC Greensboro, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee State, Samford, and Wofford.
The doubles tandem of Duggal and Sift recorded two wins playing in the Flight B bracket. The duo captured their first victory on Saturday with an 8-6 win over Chattanooga's Martin Delnido and Tristan Ryerson and followed on Sunday defeating Glen Arnet and Lucas Ranciaro of Austin Peay, 8-4.
In singles, Furman received two victories apiece from Duggal, Han, and Snyder.
Han advanced to the finals of the Flight E bracket but was unable to play the championship match due to weather. He started tournament play on Friday with a three-set victory over Ranciaro, 3-6, 6-0, 10-5, and then added a 6-1, 6-4 win against Chattanooga's Sebastian Johnson.
Duggal recorded one win each on Saturday and Sunday in the SoCon bracket. He tallied his first victory in straight sets versus The Citadel's Noah Van Dyke, 6-4, 7-6(3), and closed out the tournament Sunday with a three-set triumph against Jack Deveney of Wofford, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6(2).
Snyder, also playing in the SoCon bracket, added two more wins on Friday and Saturday. After dropping his opening match, Snyder responded with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Brady Gober of The Citadel. He came back the next day with another win in straight sets versus Mercer's Nemanja Stefanovic, 6-4, 6-1.
The Paladins will open the 2026 spring season in January.
