GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's football team wraps up its 2025 Southern Conference schedule and home slate this Saturday when it takes on VMI in a 1:00 p.m. contest at Paladin Stadium.
Furman will honor its senior and graduate players in pre-game ceremonies.
Saturday's game, sponsored by Pepsi Cola of Greenville, will be live streamed via ESPN+ and aired over Furman flagship The Fan Upstate and its four powerhouse stations: 97.7 FM/1330 AM in Greenville, and 97.1 FM/950 AM in Spartanburg. Â Broadcasts can be secured via Audacy.com, as well as through FurmanPaladins.com.
Fans can also follow the action through Furman-powered StatBroadcast live stats, accessible via FurmanPaladins.com, and receive timely updates through the @FurmanPaladins "X" platform.
Furman (5-5, 3-4 SoCon), which fell to Chattanooga, 45-28, last Saturday, will look to rebound and draw even in league play against VMI (1-9, 0-6 SoCon), which is coming off a 52-10 home loss to Wofford.
The Paladins lead the all-time series with the Keydets, 31-11, and have won 16 straight in Greenville, including the 15 clashes in Paladin Stadium. Â Last year, however, VMI edged Furman, 21-17, in Lexington.
To claim its sixth win of the season, which would double last year's tally, Furman will look for more offensive consistency through quarterback
Trey Hedden, who has passed for 2,513 yards and 14 touchdowns this fall. He's had notable success throwing to
Evan James, one of the top FCS freshmen who heads into the contest as co-owner of Furman's freshman receptions record (50) and 690 receiving yards — seven shy of that standard.
The Paladin ground attack has shown some spark over the second half of the season despite losing starting running back
Gavin Hall in a 24-14 win over The Citadel. Â The emergence of freshman
CJ Nettles, who ran for 105 yards against Mercer in the Paladins' last home game, has been a plus, as has been the work of
Ben Croasdale, who ran for a career high 91 yards versus The Citadel.
Defensively, Furman needs a bounce back from its last two outings, and a good place to start will be its pass rush, where redshirt sophomore end
Joshua Stoneking, the NCAA FCS leader in tackles for loss (19), will look to add to his SoCon leading sack total (12.5).
Gaining turnovers, a well that has produced only three times over the last six games, would also aid Furman's defensive effort.
