Furman Home Stand Continues Saturday Versus UNC Asheville

2:00 P.M Tipoff In Timmons Arena

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Following a five-day break in the schedule, Furman resumes its three-game home stand on Saturday when it plays host to UNC Asheville in a 2:00 p.m. clash at Timmons Arena.

The game will streamed via ESPN+, and fans can also follow the action via StatBroadcast live stats and receive timely updates and highlight clip thru @FurmanWBB's "X" account.  Links to the livestream and stats are available on Furman's women's basketball schedule page at FurmanPaladins.com.

The Paladins' early season slate has included clashes against three power conference foes — Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Clemson — with the latest, a 76-58 loss, coming against the Tigers on Sunday in Timmons Arena.

Furman (2-5) led Clemson 33-31 at the half before the Tigers rode 64.3 percent shooting in the second half to claim the victory.

Junior guard Lauren Bailey, a transfer from Gardner-Webb, paced the Paladins with 16 points on 5-for-5 shooting from 3-point range, and sophomore guard Chantelle Stuart followed with 13 points, hitting both attempts from beyond the arc to help key Furman's best 3-point shooting effort (8x11) on the young season.

The Paladins sport three double figure scorers in a trio of sophomores — forward Clare Coyle (11.4 ppg) and guards Raina McGowens (10.3 ppg) and Alyssa Ervin (10.1 ppg).   Coyle also tops the squad in rebounding (6.9 rpg).

Furman, which lost all five starters off last year's squad, has struggled with turnovers so far this season with 159 miscues (22.7 avg.).

UNC Asheville (2-4) is coming off an 80-54 home loss to Wofford on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs own a 67-50 road win over Western Carolina and a 48-39 home setback to Mercer.

Furman claimed a 68-50 win at UNC Asheville last season and has won the last eight meetings with the Bulldogs, as well as 11 straight in Greenville since 1987-88 season.  The Paladins hold a 22-14 lead in the all-time series.

Furman's three-game home stand will conclude on Wednesday versus Presbyterian.
