Greenville, S.C. – The Furman Paladins will enter Sunday's Sweet Sixteen match versus Hofstra on Seagraves Field at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium ranked No. 1 in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25, it was announced on Friday.
 
Sunday's kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Faxon Childress and Madison Crews calling the action. Admission to Sunday's match is $10 and children two years of age and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult. The Paladins (15-1-4), ranked No. 1 nationally for the first time in school history and seeded 16^th in the NCAA Tournament, reached the third round with a 1-0 victory over Western Michigan last Sunday at Stone Stadium. Sophomore Trip Campbell scored the lone goal of the match on assists from Diego Hernandez and Wilfer Bustamante while redshirt-freshman Ivan Horvat earned the shutout in goal after his defense held the Broncos without a shot on target in the second half. 
 
Furman's second-round triumph over Western Michigan extended the Paladins' nation-long winning stream to nine matches and their unbeaten run to an NCAA Division I-best 12 matches. The Paladins are making their third appearance in the round of 16 and looking to secure their first trip to the NCAA quarterfinals since 1999.
 
Paladin head coach Doug Allison, in his 31^st and final year, has led Furman to the NCAA Tournament 11 times and is tied with Hofstra head coach Richard Nuttall for 10^th among active NCAA Division I coaches with 364 career victories. Furman is led by SoCon Player of the Year and Hermann Trophy Watch List choice Diego Hernandez. The midfielder has netted nine goals and added nine assists this season for a Paladin squad that ranks fourth in the country in both goals (46) and assists (52) while ranking second nationally in total points (144).
 
Hofstra, 14-5-0 on the season, scored a 2-0 victory over Syracuse in the opening round of the tournament before claiming a 3-2, overtime victory at No. 1 seed and defending national champion Vermont last weekend. Nuttall, who is in his 37^th season as head coach, is also set to retire following the 2025 season. Sunday's match will mark the first meeting between the Paladins and Pride.
 
The winner of Sunday's match will advance to the NCAA quarterfinals to face the winner of Saturday night's contest between Grand Canyon and No. 8 seed Portland. A win for the Paladins on Sunday would setup a quarterfinal round match at home versus Grand Canyon or at Portland next weekend.
