No. 5 Furman Faces Wofford In Sunday's SoCon Semifinal Round

Kickoff Set For 2 P.M. At Stone Soccer Stadium

Greenville, S.C. – The top-seeded Furman men's soccer team opens postseason play Sunday afternoon hosting No. 5 seed Wofford in the Southern Conference Championship semifinal round on Seagraves Field at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.

Sunday's kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. and tickets are available for $10 by clicking here. The semifinal match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live statistics provided through StatBroadcast. Links for the live stream and live stats are available on the men's soccer schedule page at FurmanPaladins.com.

The winner of Sunday's match will advance to next weekend's SoCon finals versus the winner of Sunday night's matchup between No. 20 UNC Greensboro and Mercer in Macon, Ga. A Furman victory versus Wofford would mean the Paladins, ranked No. 5 in the latest Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 and No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, would host the SoCon Championship Match on Sunday, November 16, at 2 p.m.

Furman's semifinal contest marks the 63rd all-time meeting versus Wofford with the Paladins holding a 44-16-2 series lead. The Paladins have claimed three straight meetings versus the Terriers, including back-to-back 2-0 regular season decisions in 2024 and 2025. The schools have met 12 times in SoCon postseason play with the Paladins holding a 10-2-0 edge. Furman claimed quarterfinal round triumphs over the Terriers in 2021 and 2022 before downing Wofford, 1-0, in the 2023 semifinals.

The Paladins (12-1-4) capped the regular season with a 2-0 victory at Wofford on November 1 to secure the program's 22nd Southern Conference regular season title and 12th under head coach Doug Allison, the 2025 SoCon Coach of the Year. Last weekend's win in Spartanburg, S.C., Furman's sixth in a row, also secured a first-round bye in the SoCon Men's Soccer Championship and the tournament's No. 1 seed.

Wofford (6-10-4) opened tournament play on Friday night with a dramatic 2-1, double overtime win versus No. 4 seed ETSU at Stone Stadium. Stewart Patnaud scored in the 88th minute to erase a 1-0 ETSU advantage before Declan Mettee propelled the Terriers into the semifinals with his match-winning score at the 103:01 mark.

Furman is led by SoCon Player of the Year Diego Hernandez and SoCon Goalkeeper of the Year Ivan Horvat. The pair earned first team All-SoCon honors this week, along with SoCon Freshman of the Year Braden Dunham and sophomores Luke Hutzell and Wilfer Bustamante. Hernandez, a national player of the year candidate, has netted eight goals and added a league best eight assists this season.
