Furman Rolls Past Brevard, 110-54

Six Paladins Tally Double Figure Points

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Clare Coyle scored 18 points and paced a contingent of six Furman double figure scorers to lead the Paladins to a 110-54 win over Brevard in women's basketball action Tuesday evening at Timmons Arena.

The win evened Furman's record at 7-7 on the season heading into the new year.  Brevard falls to 8-4 on the campaign.

Coyle, a sophomore forward, connected on 8-of-13 field goal attempts and 2-of-3 free throws, which she combined with 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of playing time for her fifth double-double of the season.

She was followed in the scoring column by Lauren Bailey with 15 points, Alyssa Ervin and Raina McGowens with 13 points apiece, and Sophia Pearl with 12 points.  Kyraha Parnell finished with 10 points for the Paladins, who saw all 12 players in uniform score.

Furman shot 49.4 percent from the field (41x83) and hit on 12-of-28 3-point attempts (42.9%) — its second best shooting effort from beyond the arc this season.

Bailey dialed up five 3-pointers in 10 attempts, and Pearl drained 4-of-6 treys.

The Paladins forced the Tornados into 29 turnovers and converted the miscues into 40 points.

Parnell was credited with a season high five steals, and Samaria Taylor registered four thefts in the contest.

Brevard's Jada Petty-Wilkins led all scorers with 19 points.

Furman plays its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday when it faces Bob Jones in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
