ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Furman topped UNC Asheville, 5-2, Saturday at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown in Asheville, N.C.

The Paladins won the top two doubles matches to take the first point.  Seniors Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder handed Angelina Joy Hug and Ari Siegel a 6-3 loss at number one, and senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock defeated Avery Sager and Louise Booker, 6-2, at flight two. Flight three, where Marissa Pennings and Alexa Griffith led Alexis Nyborg and Elizabeth Tindera 4-3, went unfinished.

In singles, Furman claimed straight-set wins at flights one, four, five, and six for the victory.  A flight one, senior Sara Snyder beat Nyborg 7-5, 6-3, while Ellie Schulson defeated Louise Booker at flight 4, 7-5, 6-4. At flight five, Hitchcock posted a 7-5, 6-4 advantage over Julia Caffarena, and at number six, Grace Thomas fought for a straight set victory against Louise van Rensburg, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

UNC Asheville scored at flights two and three singles, as Joy Hug topped Dawson, 6-4, 6-3, at number two, and Tindera cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Pennings at number three. 

The Paladins (4-0) will travel to Wake Forest on Friday.  First serve is set for 4 p.m.
