GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team plays its first home matches of the 2025 season this weekend when it entertains Georgia State and Gardner-Webb in a pair of non-conference matches at Mickel Tennis Center.

The Paladins (2-2) opened Southern Conference play last Saturday with a 7-0 sweep of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. The win was Furman's 59
th in program history over the Bulldogs.
The Paladins swept their way through doubles competition by capturing all three matches to take the early 1-0 lead.
Elijah Poritzky and
John Rado, playing together for the first time this season, won, 6-4, at No. 1. Furman also picked up a pair of 6-0 triumphs from
Cole Burnam and
Connor Laymon in the No. 2 match and
Nicolas Dispas and
Nico Snyder at No. 3.
Furman continued its momentum into singles play by winning all six matches to secure the 7-0 victory. Poritzky won his No. 1 match, 6-3, 6-1, and
Theophile Joly, playing at No. 2, earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Rado, competing at No. 3, registered a 6-2, 7-5 win. Dispas won, 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 contest, while
Walker Allen secured a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5. In the No. 6 match, Laymon picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win.
For the second time this season, Poritzky was recognized for his performance on February 11 receiving SoCon Player of the Week accolades.
Georgia State enters the weekend with a 1-4 overall record while Gardner-Webb currently sits at 6-1 on the season. The two teams meet in a neutral site match Friday at Mickel Tennis Center.
The Paladins return to the road next weekend, February 22-23, to take on Queens (N.C.) and Clemson.
