GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team is back on the road this weekend when it travels to Queens (N.C.) and No. 31 Clemson for a pair of non-conference matches.
The Paladins start the weekend on Saturday morning when they face Queens (N.C.) at 12 p.m. from the Howard Levine Tennis Center in Charlotte, N.C. Furman then heads to Clemson, S.C., the next day for a 5 p.m. first serve versus the Tigers at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

The Paladins (2-4) played their first home matches of the season last weekend and dropped a pair of non-conference contests to Georgia State and Gardner-Webb. Furman fell 4-1 to Georgia State on February 15 and then dropped a 4-3 decision to Gardner-Webb on February 16.
The Paladins jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over Georgia State by capturing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Nicolas Dispas and
Nico Snyder collected their second victory of the season with a 6-1 triumph at No. 3.
Elijah Poritzky and
Matt Kandel, playing together at No. 1, secured the point for Furman with a 7-6(2) victory to move to 2-0 on the year.
The following day saw the Paladins claim the doubles point for the third consecutive match. Furman collected wins at No. 2 and No.3. Gardner-Webb picked up a win at No. 1 before
Cole Burnam and
Connor Laymon, playing at No. 2, registered their second win of the year with a 6-2 triumph. Dispas and Snyder would then clinch the point at No. 3 with their team-leading third victory this season, 6-4.
In singles,
Theophile Joly cut the Paladins' deficit to 3-2 with his three-set victory, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(6), at No. 2 for his second win of the year.
Walker Allen closed out the contest at No. 5 coming from behind for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win, his team best third of the season.
Furman is back at Mickel Tennis Center next Friday, February 28 hosting UNC Greensboro and North Greenville in a doubleheader.
