GREENVILLE, S.C. -- No. 40 Furman blanked UNC Greensboro, 7-0, Thursday in Southern Conference women's tennis action at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins won two out of three doubles matches to score the opening point.  Seniors Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder, who rank 58th nationally, downed Alexandra Dodashev and Olivia Gallagher, 6-2, at flight one, and seniors Grace Thomas and Alexa Griffith defeated Elisabeth Birkevold and Lauren Thomson, 6-1, at number three.  The Spartans picked up a victory at flight two, where Sydney Bly and Raegan Mitchell teamed up to beat 64th-ranked senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock, 6-4. 

Furman swept all six singles matches in straight sets.  Snyder recorded a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Gallagher in the top-seeded contest, and senior Marissa Pennings entered the lineup at flight two, where she topped Dodashev, 6-0, 6-3.  Dawson blanked Thomson, 6-0, 6-0, at number three, and Schulson blew past Mitchell, 6-0, 6-0, at number four.  At flight five, Hitchcock posted a 6-0, 6-3 advantage versus Bly, and at flight six, Thomas defeated Birkevold, 6-2, 6-0. 

The Paladins (8-2, 2-0 SoCon) hit the road next week to take on Belmont Monday at 2 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.  Furman will also square off at Austin Peay State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Clarksville, Tenn.
