LEXINGTON, VA. -- Furman claimed five additional titles Saturday to conclude the 2025 SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va.
On the men's side, the Paladins took gold in each event from the 800m to the 5,000m, plus the DMR, for the third-straight year, while the Furman women scored 115 points to break the former Paladin scoring high of 109 points, set in 2020. Both Furman teams finished third at the championship.
Senior Matthew Smith won the men's 800m with a time of 1:47.64, establishing a new SoCon meet record and a new Furman program record. He broke his own previous Paladin record of 1:48.66, which Smith set in January of 2023. The Paladins placed three runners among the top six in the event, including senior Carson Williams in fifth (1:55.74) and freshman Tripp Roemer (1:57.21) in sixth. Â
