Asheville, N.C. – Wofford connected on nine of its last 11 shots and ended the game on a 13-2 run to erase a four-point deficit as the sixth-seeded Terriers edged No. 5 seed Furman, 92-85, in the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Championship Game Monday night at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C.
Furman (25-9) trailed 77-69 with under seven minutes to play when
Cooper Bowser knocked down a pair of free throws and
Garrett Hien drained a three to start a late Paladin rally. Wofford's Kyler Filewich and Furman's
Nick Anderson traded a pair of free throws before Hien converted in the paint and
PJay Smith Jr. followed with his fourth triple of the night to give the Paladins an 80-79 lead. Smith stole the ball from Corey Tripp and Bowser found Anderson for another three to put the Paladins ahead 83-79 with 2:34 remaining.
