Ryu Leads Furman In Opening Day Of Coach Mo Classic

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Sophomore Audrey Ryu (+7) tied for 22nd lead the Furman women's golf team after Monday's first two rounds of the Coach Mo Classic at the par 72, 6,533 yard St. John's Golf and Country Club.  

The Paladins are co-hosting the tournament with North Florida in honor of Furman alum Mo Geasualdi, who is a teaching professional at St. John's and is a tremendous teacher and junior golf leader.

A native of Dublin, Ohio, Ryu tallied a 78 with birdies on No. 12 and No. 16 in the morning round then rebounded with a 73 and a team-high three birdies, including back to back birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 in the afternoon round.  

Freshman Eva Ringwald (+8) is one stroke behind Ryu in a tie for 29th.  She paced the Paladins with a 73 and three birdies in round one then carded a 79 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 11 in round two.  Freshman Jenna Madden (+10) is tied for 39th with one round to play after scoring a 67 with consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 in the morning round then shooting a 78 with a birdie on No. 12 in the afternoon.

Sophomore Kelsi Mauzy (+15) is tied for 65th.  She posted a 78 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 9 in the first round and recorded an 91 with a birdie on No. 12 in the second round.  Senior Alise Knudson (+17) carded an 81 in the day's opening round and a 78 with a birdie on No. 1 in the second round, tying for 71st. 

Freshman Andrea Marin Raga (+24), who is playing as an individual, is in 84th place after carding rounds of 83 and 85 with a birdie on No. 8 in round two.

Natasha Kiel (-5) of Purdue holds a two stroke individual lead after firing rounds of 68-71= 139 on Monday. 

No. 39 Purdue (+1) leads the field by eight strokes over 44th-ranked College of Charleston (+9).  Daytona State (+22) sits in third, followed by Charlotte (+24) in fourth.  Western Kentucky (+26) rounds out the top five.  Furman (+37) is in tenth place entering the final round.  

The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a shotgun start slated for 8:30 a.m.  The Paladins will tee off on holes No. 11 through 15 and will play in a group with St. Thomas, Lipscomb, and UTSA.  Admission to Tuesday's final round is free and fans are welcome.  Live results are available at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/233954/scoring/team.
