CHATTANOOGA, TENN. -- No. 38 Furman blanked UNC Greensboro, 4-0, Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Southern Conference Championship, which is being contested this week at the Champions Club.

With the win, the top-seeded Paladins (19-3, 7-0 SoCon) advance to the semifinal round, where Furman will face fourth-seeded Western Carolina Friday at 2 p.m.  The Spartans conclude their season at 3-18.  Furman has now reached the semifinals in each SoCon Championship since the tournament moved to a team scoring format in 1998.

The Paladins won at flights two and three doubles to claim the opening point.  Senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock slipped past Raegan Mitchell and Sydney Bly, 6-4, at flight two, and seniors Alexa Griffith and Marissa Pennings swept Lauren Thompson and Ella Olexa, 6-0, at number three.  The flight one match was tied at 5-all when it was called.

Furman scored in straight sets at flights one, three, and five singles for the victory.  Senior Sara Snyder defeated Olivia Gallagher, 6-2, 6-1, at number one, and Dawson blew past Thompson, 6-2, 6-1, at flight three.  At number five, Hitchcock downed Elisabeth Birkevold, 6-1, 6-2.  

Matches at flights two, four, and six were unfinished with the Paladins leading by a large margin at two and six.  The flight four match was tied at 6-6 in set one.
