GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman fans will need a roster to familiarize themselves with the addition of new Paladin cornerbacks this season.
Four transfers have joined two returning performers and a pair of freshman signees in comprising the position group in 2025.
"We have lot of new faces in that group, but it is a unit with some experience," said head coach
Clay Hendrix on Monday. Â "They've had a good preseason, and the good competition will determine who will start and who will play."
Among the returnees
Daco Coleman (5-9, 176, So.) is the leader, having seen action in nine games a year ago.
"Daco is a second year guy who we had to play a good bit a year ago because of injuries. Â He had a really good spring and has had a solid preseason so far, and is certainly going to figure into the mix."
The next three players to earn mention from Hendrix are transfers —
A.J. Seay (6-1, 190, Gr.),
Keon Jones (5-10, 180, Gr.), and
Eddie Jackson III (6-0, 170, Jr.).
Seay spent his first two seasons at Presbyterian, where he saw action in 11 games and made eight starts before transferring to North Alabama. Â In 2023 & '24 he logged 12 starts over 22 games for the Lions, totaling 38 tackles and a pair of interceptions.Â
"A.J. has good size and has played a lot of football. Â He's had a good preseason. We see him being a big contributor."
Jones saw the field in 12 games and registered 17 tackles, an interception, and six pass breakups the last two seasons at Prarie View A&M.
"Keon is another guy who owns a good bit of playing experience. Â He was limited a bit in the early part of (preseason) camp but is now battling for playing time."
Jackson spent three years at Bryant, where he saw action in 23 games that included a 30-tackle campaign in 2024. Â He has two years of eligibility remaining. Â
"Eddie got off to a great start before having to deal with an ankle injury, but now it looks like he's ready to return.
"I see all four of those guys (Coleman, Seay, Jones, and Jackson) having a good chance to play a lot for us this year."
Jordan Miller (5-11, 180, R-Fr.) is in the mix and is also competing for action on special teams.
Â
Connor Adams (5-11, 184, Fr.), is a January enrollee "who has been thru spring practice and is competing well."
Caden Wilson (5-11, 175, Fr.) will look to provide depth in the unit, along with
Wesley Abraham (5-10, 198, Gr.), a two-time All-America selection and owner of 27 starts who compiled 84 tackles and six interceptions over four seasons at NCAA Division III member Wesleyan.
