Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team, ranked No. 20 in Top Drawer Soccer's preseason top 25, kicks off the 2025 regular season this week with a pair of games at Duke University's Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C., versus the UC San Diego Tritons and No. 9 San Diego Toreros.
On Thursday, Furman and UCSD battle in a 3:30 p.m. season opener, which is scheduled to be streamed live on ESPN+. The Paladins and Toreros meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Koskinen Stadium. Live statistics for both games will be available at FurmanPaladins.com
The Paladins, who went 9-4-6 overall, captured the Southern Conference Tournament title, and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, are in the 31
st and final season under head coach
Doug Allison, who is set to retire following the 2025 season. Allison, the winningest head coach in SoCon history, enters the week in search of his 350
th victory at Furman.
Furman returns five preseason All-SoCon selections, including
Wilfer Bustamante,
Luke Hutzell,
Aaron Salinas,
Lloyd Wamu Snell, and
Ryan Wagner. Salinas, the 2024 SoCon Goalkeeper of the Year, was named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Watch List and was ranked No. 71 on Top Drawer Soccer's preseason top 100 players list. The 2025 Paladins also welcome in a top 10 recruiting class, highlighted by defender
Braden Dunham, who was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Preseason Freshman Best XI this week.
The Paladins' home opener is slated for August 28 versus North Greenville on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium. On Sunday, August 31, Furman will retire United Soccer legend Clint Dempsey's jersey when it hosts No. 15 Duke for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
