GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team starts its fall slate this weekend when it travels to Elon, N.C., for the Elon Invitational at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

The Paladins are one of 13 teams competing in the three-day tournament along with Elon, Campbell, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Columbia, East Tennessee State, Georgia Southern, South Carolina State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, VCU, and Virginia Tech.
Six Furman players are taking part in the tournament including
Nicolas Dispas,
Evan Duggal,
Landon Ecarma,
Alex Han,
Theophile Joly, and Barnabás Sift.
Friday's tournament schedule will consist of two doubles rounds followed by one round of singles play. Saturday's format shows two rounds of singles action. The final day of competition on Sunday has one round each of doubles and singles.
Under the direction of seventh-year head coach
J.J. Whitlinger, who is also entering his 11
th year overall in Greenville, the Paladins are coming off their first appearance in the SoCon Men's Tennis Championship finals since 2019 and finished last year 9-15 overall and 3-4 in the SoCon. Furman concluded the year winning three of its last four matches including a 4-3 upset of top-seeded East Tennessee State in the semifinals of the SoCon Men's Tennis Championship.
The Paladins have four tournaments remaining on their fall schedule and return to action September 26-28 at the James O'Connell Memorial Tournament hosted by Northern Kentucky in Mason, Ohio.
