GREENVILLE, S.C. – Seven members of Furman's football team have earned 2025 Division I Academic All-District honors, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), it was announced today.
The team includes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
The seven Paladins earning recognition include linebackers
Luke McLaughlin and
Raleigh Herbert, bandits
Dylan Chiedo and
Tanner Schuck, safeties
Taylen Blaylock and
Billy Lewis, and tight end
Luke Clyburn.
McLaughlin, a product of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, earned starts in 10 games and was credited with 76 tackles, including two for loss and a sack. He is a redshirt senior and English major with a 3.73 GPA.
Herbert registered starts in all 12 games and finished the season with 72 tackles, including 4.5 for loss and 1.5 sacks. His 46-yard interception return for a touchdown keyed Furman's 31-14 road triumph over Samford. The redshirt sophomore communications major from Cumming, Ga., sports a 3.97 GPA.
Chiedo, a redshirt junior health sciences major from Jacksonville, Fla. and owner of a 3.56 GPA, registered playing time in 11 games and tallied 24 tackles, highlighted by four tackles for loss, a pair of sacks. and a forced fumble.
A two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, Schuck started in all 12 contests and was credited with 41 tackles, which included 3.5 stops for loss and a sack. The redshirt junior business administration from Brentwood, Tenn., boasts a 4.00 GPA.
Blaylock turned in a solid 2025 campaign in his only season as a Paladin. The graduate student from Houston, Texas, earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors in his first game, returning an interception 43 yards for a touchdown and making late fourth quarter stops on third and fourth down plays to preserve a 23-21 win over William & Mary.
Another two-time CSC Academic All-District pick, Lewis logged 71 tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery in his second season of starting duty. The Athens, Ga., product carries a 3.88 GPA in applied mathematics.
A Camden, S.C., product, and graduate student, Clyburn caught 10 passes for 88 yards in 2025.
