GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman volleyball team begins a three-match road trip in Southern Conference play Tuesday evening when it travels to Charleston, S.C., to take on The Citadel Bulldogs at 6 p.m. from McAlister Field House.

The Paladins (8-7, 2-2 SoCon) picked up their first SoCon victories last week sweeping a two-match home series over Chattanooga. Furman opened with a 3-2 victory and followed the next day with a 3-0 sweep of the Mocs. The wins gave the Paladins their first regular season sweep over Chattanooga since 2019.
Izzy Castelloe turned in a team high 16 kills last Thursday in the 3-2 victory while
Ashtan Dodson and
Emily Navarro both collected double-doubles. Castelloe was one of three Furman players to have 10 or more kills along with Dodson (15) and
Kacie Moore (13). Dodson posted her first career double-double after totaling a team best 19 digs. Navarro contributed her team leading ninth double-double with 22 assists and 10 digs.
Morgan Baldridge led the team with 28 assists and added nine digs. Defensively,
Kennedy Seekford provided 15 digs and
Tennyson Gorman seven blocks.
The Paladins concluded the match hitting .269 and held a 66-53 advantage in kills, 59-51 in assists, and 68-61 in digs. Furman also registered 11 blocks.
Castelloe and Moore both finished with 11 kills in the Paladins' 3-0 sweep last Friday. The duo of Castelloe and Moore both hit over .400 with Castelloe turning in a .450 clip and Moore .526. Baldridge had a team high 17 assists and Navarro provided 16 assists and seven digs. Dodson collected 11 digs and Gorman eight blocks.
Furman hit over .300 for the second time this season, finishing at .310. The Paladins held a 45-34 advantage in kills, 42-32 in assists, and 47-38 in digs.
The Citadel, who has dropped its last seven matches, presently sits at 3-13 overall and 0-4 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs are under the direction of ninth-year head coach Dave Zelenock.
Furman and The Citadel have previously met 54 times in program history with the Paladins owning 44-10 advantage in the all-time series.
Furman wraps up its road trip this weekend, October 9-10, heading to Cullowhee, N.C., for a two-match conference series at Western Carolina.
