DALLAS, Texas – Redshirt junior Walter Anderson (E) and junior David Oliver IV (E) tied for 35th Tuesday to lead Furman (+7) in the final round of SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational at the par 72, 7617 yard Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
Anderson, a native of Baton Route, La., posted four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 15 and No. 16, to finish the day with a 2-under 70, while Oliver, who birdied three-straight holes from No. 14 through No. 16, paced Furman with a team-high six birdies and carded a final-round 73.
Junior Ludvig Josefsson (+3) also recorded a 70 with four birdies on Tuesday, tying for 48th, and freshman Tucker Gutierrez (+4) shot even par with four birdies to tie for 53rd. Graduate student Ben Loomis (+12) birdied three out of four holes from No. 14 through No. 17 and finished with a 75 to tie for 84th.
Chattanooga's Evan Rogers (-16) claimed the individual championship with rounds of 68-69-63=200.
East Tennessee State (-32) won the tournament by three shots over Southern Cal (-29). Chattanooga (-25) finished third, and Baylor (-20) was fourth, while UNLV (-16) rounded out the top five. The Paladins (+7) tied for 13th.
Furman will play in the Bryson Invitational in Miami, Fla., Oct. 12-14.
