Furman, UNI Set For Saturday Showdown At Timmons Arena

Tip-Off Set For 5 P.M. On ESPN+

Greenville, S.C. – Furman hosts one of the premier mid-major basketball games in the nation this weekend when the defending Southern Conference Tournament champion Paladins entertain defending Missouri Valley Conference Tournament champion Northern Iowa on Saturday at Timmons Arena.

Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. and tickets for Saturday's mid-major showdown can be purchased online by clicking here. In addition to honoring the Paladins' 2026 SoCon Tournament champions, Furman will recognize its men's and women's cross country teams and men's soccer team, who claimed SoCon championships last weekend. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can also listen to Tom Van Hoy call the action on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM in Greenville, 97.1 FM and 1490 AM in Spartanburg, and via the Audacy app. Links for the live stream, live audio, and live statistics are available at FurmanPaladins.com.

Furman is off to a 2-0 start following victories over Bethune-Cookman, 79-70, and Bob Jones, 121-52. Seven Paladins reached double figures, led by Tom House's 17 points and Jordan Butler's career-best 15 points in Wednesday's rout of the Bruins. The 121-52 victory mark the Paladins highest offensive output and largest margin of victory since a 124-48 trouncing of Oglethorpe on November 20, 2024.

House leads the Paladins at 19.5 points per game while Charles Johnston has totaled 14.5 points and nine rebounds per contest. Marcus Kell has contributed 12.5 points per game.

The Panthers (1-0) topped Cornell (IA) College, 106-70, in their season opener on Tuesday. UNI is coming off a 23-13 season that included a 70-54 victory over Furman in Cedar Falls, Iowa, last November.  The all-time series between the Paladins and Panthers is knotted at 1-1 with Furman having claimed the first meeting during the 2003-04 campaign.

Following Saturday's matchup, Furman embarks on a three-game road trip that features visits to Holy Cross, Belmont, and Radford.
