Furman Set To Host Radford On Saturday

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team returns to Paladin Stadium on Saturday afternoon to host the Radford Highlanders in Big South Conference action at 2 p.m.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. Updates will be posted on the Furman women's lacrosse Twitter page (@FUWlax). Saturday will be the Paladins' Morgan's Message Game and are set to wear teal honoring former Duke women's lacrosse student-athlete Morgan Rodgers. Furman is also hosting the Special Olympics of Greenville and will hold a clinic following the contest.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats at 1:50 p.m. as Molly Faul will be presented with the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, recognizing her outstanding character, leadership, and commitment to serving others both on and off the field.

The Paladins (5-5, 1-0 Big South) started conference play on Wednesday, picking up a 15-7 victory at Presbyterian. Furman wrapped up the contest holding a 34-17 advantage in shots, 30-13 in ground balls, 13-11 in draws, and 14-7 in caused turnovers. Defensively, the Paladins forced Presbyterian into 24 turnovers, the most by a Furman opponent this season. The Paladins' 30 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers rank fifth- and tied for eighth-most in a game in program history.

Reynolds Hester paced Furman with career highs of seven points and six assists, tied for fourth-most in a game in program history, while Lily Toole compiled five points on three goals and two assists. Toole caused a team best three turnovers and picked up four ground balls along with Lilly Dyer and Zoe Milmoe. Allie Kandel netted a hat trick, and Emily Muir provided three points on two goals and an assist. Skylar Hilmer won five draws. Goalie Sam Melville earned the win on five saves and two ground balls.

Radford currently sits at 1-8 overall and opens conference play on Saturday. The Highlanders are coming off a 16-15 home loss to Monmouth this past Sunday. Radford is under the direction of fifth-year head coach Samantha Jones.

The Paladins and Highlanders are meeting for the fifth time in program history with Furman owning a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series. The Paladins picked up a 21-4 win at Radford last season.

Furman remains at Paladin Stadium next Wednesday, April 1, to host Wofford at 7 p.m.
