GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team returns to the road in Big South Conference play Saturday afternoon traveling to Farmville, Va., for a 1 p.m. opening draw against Longwood at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.

The Paladins (6-6, 2-1 Big South) suffered their first home conference loss Wednesday evening with a 16-12 setback to Wofford at Paladin Stadium. Furman concluded the contest with 30 shots, 14 ground balls, 12 draws, and six caused turnovers.
Reynolds Hester led the Paladins with five points on three assists and two goals while
Allie Kandel,
Shae Insinga, and
Reeve Goldstein all contributed three points. Kandel scored three times, Insinga totaled two goals and an assist, and Goldstein set a new career high with two goals and dished out an assist. Defensively,
Lilly Dyer picked up three ground balls and
Cassie Larsen caused a career best two turnovers.
Cate Noone won four draws. Goalie
Sam Melville finished with nine saves.
Longwood currently sits at 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the Big South. The Lancers defeated Winthrop, 10-7, on March 28 and are coming off a 25-4 defeat at High Point this past Wednesday. Longwood is under the direction of second-year head coach Dwayne Hicks.
Furman is facing the Lancers for the fifth time in program history with the Paladins holding a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series.
Furman plays its final two home games of the regular season next week starting on Wednesday, April 8, hosting Mercer at 7 p.m.
