Toews Joins Furman Men's Basketball Roster For Upcoming Season

Point Guard Averaged 6.3 PPG And Started 20 Games At Boston College Last Season

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team has added transfer point guard Luka Toews to its roster for the 2026-27 season, it was announced on Friday afternoon.

Toews, who arrives at Furman with two years of eligibility, spent his first two collegiate seasons at Boston College where he averaged 4.2 points and 1.8 assists per game over 53 contests while connecting on 36.8% of his three-point attempts.

"Luka is a high-level point guard who brings experience, toughness, and shooting to our program," said Bob Richey, who is entering his 10th season as Furman's head coach. "His experience at Boston College has prepared him to make an immediate impact, and we are excited to get him to campus!"

After playing in 24 games off the bench as a freshman in 2024-25, Toews appeared in 29 games and logged 20 starts for Boston College this past season. He posted 6.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game in addition to shooting 39.2% from behind the arc. Toews posted double-digit scoring performances in eight games as a sophomore in 2025-26, including a career-best 21 points in a win over Fairleigh Dickinson and 14 points and a career-high eight assists at Florida State.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, where his father coached basketball, Toews was selected to the Japanese National Team for the 2025 Nippon Life Cup last summer.
