GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman women's head basketball coach
Pierre Curtis announced today the hiring of Lauren Bevis as an assistant coach and director of basketball operations.
Bevis joins the Paladins following two years at Charleston Southern, where she served the Buccaneers in the same capacity.
"What stood out with Lauren as a player was her work ethic and competitive spirit, and she has brought that with her into her coaching career," said Curtis. Â "She is committed to excellence in whatever role she is in, and I am excited we are now part of her coaching journey."
A Spartanburg, S.C., native, Bevis fashioned an outstanding collegiate career at both High Point and Gardner-Webb (2020-24), scoring 1,839 points over five seasons while collecting all-conference honors three times. Â As a graduate student at High Point, she averaged 16.3 points per game, ranked 10th in the nation in free throw percentage (.897), and was named Big South Conference Player of the Year after leading the Panthers to a 20-12 record and regular season championship.
In Bevis' four-year tenure at Gardner-Webb the third generation Runnin' Bulldogs' standout helped lead the program to a 74-44 record, two Big South Conference titles, including a 25-9 overall mark and 18-0 league record in her senior year that featured a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
She earned her undergraduate degree in sports education from Gardner-Webb and added a master's in business, communication, and leadership from High Point in 2024.
