Furman Athletics Announces External Staff Promotions

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Furman University Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Jason Donnelly announced several new titles within his external team on Thursday.

"Our success over many years has been built by outstanding people who have dedicated themselves to Furman, our student-athletes, and one another," said Donnelly.  "These promotions recognize individuals whose professionalism, creativity, and leadership have helped shape our department while building lasting relationships across our campus, with the media, alumni, donors, and the Furman community.  Their commitment to our values, traditions, and pursuit of excellence has played an important role in the historic success of Furman Athletics."

Hunter Reid, the Paladins' Associate Athletics Director for Athletic Communications, has been elevated to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Communications.  He joined the Furman athletic communications office in 1985.  Reid oversees publicity efforts for the school's 18 intercollegiate sports and has direct responsibility for football and women's basketball. In addition, he serves as liaison to Furman's Athletic Hall of Fame and is board member of the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame.

Jordan Caskey, Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Communications, has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Athletic Communications.  He joined the Furman staff in 2002 and coordinates publicity efforts for men's and women's soccer, men's basketball, and softball.  During the 2025-26 season, he organized the Paladins' media campaign during men's soccer's historic run to the College Cup and for men's basketball's second NCAA Championship appearance in the past four seasons.  

Julie Paré, Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Communications, has also been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Athletic Communications.  A 1996 Furman alum, her responsibilities include covering cross country/track & field, women's tennis, and men's and women's golf.  Paré has been a member of the athletics communications staff since 2009 and serves on the department's Hall of Fame Selection, Competition Scheduling, and Staff Advisory Council committees.

Wesley Herring, Director of Athletic Communications, has been elevated to Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Communications.  A member of the Paladin staff since 2019, Herring will continue to provide media coverage for the Paladin volleyball, lacrosse, and men's tennis programs, in addition to assisting the Furman Athletics Fund.  Herring also serves as the department's primary website manager.

James McClinton III, Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing, has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Marketing.  He joined Furman Athletics in 2022 and is responsible for the athletic department's brand visibility, increasing fan attendance revenue, and growing campus and community partnerships.  He also oversees promoting the Paladin athletic programs, competitions, student-athletes, and coaches.

Juan Soto, currently Furman's Assistant Athletics Director for Creative Services, has been elevated to Associate Athletics Director for Creative Services.  Soto, who came to Furman in January of 2024, coordinates the department's graphics design, social media, and videography and spearheads the department's digital landscape presence.

Jeff Schaetzel, Director of Video Services, has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast Video.  A member of the Furman Athletics staff since 2022, he oversees the Paladins' video streaming and broadcast efforts, as well as coordinates video board operations at all venues for home athletic events and special functions.

Furman Athletics will be announcing additional promotions in the coming weeks acknowledging the leadership and contributions of the staff impacting the success of the athletic department.
