Furman Athletics Continues Comprehensive Investment In Best In Class Facilities

Donor generosity and institutional support drive continued investment across all Paladin programs

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Furman Athletics continues to make significant investments in Best in Class facilities across its 19-sport program, reflecting a comprehensive commitment to providing championship-level experiences for Paladin student-athletes, coaches and fans.

While the transformational renovation of Timmons Arena has generated significant attention since its reopening in August 2025, the project represents just one part of a broader period of facilities investment across Furman Athletics. Over the past year, donor-funded projects and institutional support have produced meaningful improvements benefiting all Paladin student-athletes, programs, and fans.

Collectively, the projects demonstrate Furman's commitment to comprehensive excellence and continued investment in facilities that support student-athlete development, recruiting, competitive success and the fan experience.

"Our commitment is to provide a Best in Class experience for every student-athlete and every program at Furman," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Jason Donnelly. "The transformation of Timmons Arena has been extraordinary, but equally important is the comprehensive investment taking place throughout our athletics facilities. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors and the continued support and investment of the University, which together allow us to strengthen the experience for our student-athletes, coaches and fans while positioning Furman Athletics for sustained success."

Paladin Stadium
Fans attending Furman football night games at Paladin Stadium this fall, as well as women's lacrosse contests, will experience new LED lighting installed by NGU Sports Lighting in November 2025. Featuring two-color changing lights on each pole, the new system is nearly four times brighter than its predecessor and enhances both competition and the in-venue fan experience.

Minor Herndon Mickel Tennis Center
The Minor Herndon Mickel Tennis Center, regarded as one of the Southeast's premier collegiate tennis facilities since opening in 1996, has received a series of enhancements. New Hollman lockers and lounge areas were installed in both the men's and women's locker rooms in January 2025. Additional improvements completed this spring include new indoor curtains and umpire chairs, freshly painted scoreboards and handrails, and new outdoor player benches.

Cross Country/Track & Field Performance Center
A new performance center serving Furman's nationally recognized cross country and track & field programs opened inside Timmons Arena in fall 2025 and provides temperature controlled space for Boost and AlgerG treadmills while also housing rehabilitation and strength equipment dedicated space to support the training and development of Paladin student-athletes. This project is the first of several intended to support the needs of a growing cross country and track and field program with further details to come.

Pepsi Stadium
Pepsi Stadium, home of Furman softball since 2001, is undergoing one of the most extensive facility enhancements in its history. Improvements include new netting and padding behind home plate and the dugouts, foul fencing, and updated graphics throughout the backstop and dugout areas.

Those enhancements accompany a complete field renovation by Environmental Golf and Athletic Construction featuring new grading and drainage, sod, infield material and warning track. The project is scheduled for completion prior to the beginning of the 2026-27 academic year.

Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium
Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium, home to Furman's championship soccer programs, will feature a new Formetco Sports 32-by-16-foot videoboard this year. The addition further enhances one of Furman's signature athletics venues and follows a historic 2025 season for the Paladin men's soccer program.

Volleyball at Timmons Arena
Furman volleyball's move into Timmons Arena this year will also provide the program with significantly enhanced student-athlete spaces, including a new locker room featuring Hollman lockers and a dedicated player lounge.

The move provides volleyball with a premier competition and training environment while creating additional opportunities to elevate the student-athlete and fan experience.

Davis Faxon Training Facility
The Davis Faxon Training Facility continues to provide Furman's men's and women's golf programs with a premier, year-round environment for instruction, training and student-athlete development. Made possible through the generosity and vision of Furman donors, the facility represents the significant impact philanthropy can have on the daily experience of Paladin student-athletes while strengthening Furman's ability to recruit, develop and compete at a championship level.

Together with the transformation of Timmons Arena, these projects represent Furman's continued investment in the people, programs and facilities that support Paladin Athletics. Through the partnership of the University and the generosity of donors, Furman continues to strengthen its athletics infrastructure with a comprehensive approach designed to benefit all sports and sustain a culture of excellence for years to come.

Furman Athletics continues to pursue additional opportunities to enhance facilities and the student-athlete experience across all 19 sports.
