Wilmington, N.C. – Furman and UNCW played to a scoreless draw in men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
Ninety minutes was not enough to determine a winner as Furman moved to 1-1-2 on the season and the Seahawks moved to 2-0-1.
Furman dominated the chances as the schools played to a tie for the second straight season and third consecutive meeting. The Paladins outshot UNCW 19-11 and managed a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Grayson Travis and Rayan Wagner each forced two saves for the Paladins while Osei Gyamfi recorded both shots on goal for the Seahawks. Wagner had a sot saved off the line by a UNCW defender in the seventh minute and
Ryan Reid had his shot cleared from danger in the 62
nd minute.
Aaron Salinas stopped two shots to earn the shutout for Furman. Alex Kron recorded eight saves for UNCW.
Furman caps its road trip at Davidson on Friday, September 4, before returning to Stone Soccer Stadium to host Garner-Webb on September 9 at 6 p.m.
