Furman Travels To Fairfield Inn And Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman volleyball team will hit the road for the second time this season when it travels to Buies Creek, N.C., to face Stetson, Ball State, and Campbell in the Fairfield Inn and Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational at Gore Arena/Pope Convocation Center.

The Paladins are slated for one match on Friday when they take on Stetson at 3 p.m. The schedule on Saturday features two matches against Ball State at 1 p.m. and tournament host Campbell at 5 p.m.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. Saturday's match versus Campbell is being streamed via paid subscription on FloCollege. Updates will be posted on the Furman volleyball Twitter page (@FurmanVB).

The Paladins (3-3) played their first home matches of the season last week, going 2-1 hosting the Furman Invitational at Timmons Arena. Furman opened the tournament with back-to-back four-set victories over Presbyterian and Queens (N.C.) before falling, 3-1, to North Carolina A&T in the finale.

The Paladins had four players finish with 10 or more kills in the Presbyterian win led by Amber Watson's career high 13. Izzy Castelloe posted a double-double with 11 kills and a career high 16 digs, and tying her career best of four service aces, while Ashtan Dodson contributed 11 kills and Kacie Moore 10. Emily Navarro added a double-double with 37 assists and 11 digs. Rebekah Buchholz led the team with her career high seven blocks and Kennedy Seekford turned in a game high 21 digs.

The win against Queens (N.C.) saw both Castelloe and Navarro boast double-doubles as Castelloe recorded a career high 23 kills on .396 hitting and 13 digs. Navarro turned in 44 assists and 19 digs. Moore compiled a career high 14 kills on .550 hitting and matched her career best of seven blocks. Dodson and Seekford had 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Castelloe paced the offense versus North Carolina A&T with 10 kills. Navarro added another double-double on 20 assists and 12 digs. Dodson collected eight kills and 11 digs while Seekford led all players with 16 digs. Moore turned in six blocks and Buchholz four.

Ball State heads into the weekend undefeated at 5-0 overall while Stetson is 3-3 and Campbell 2-3.

Furman currently owns a 6-4 lead in the all-time series over Stetson and 4-0 against Campbell. The Paladins are facing Ball State for the first time in program history.

Furman heads to Clemson, S.C., next week, September 17-18, for a pair of matches with Clemson and New Hampshire at Jervey Gym.
