Cally Chizik begins his first season of coaching this year as a defensive assistant following a solid Paladin playing career.
In 2023 Chizik fashioned an outstanding season that netted him consensus All-Southern Conference honors and Walter Camp Foundation All-America laurels. His five interceptions paced the league, and his big-play ability was instrumental in the Paladins’ stellar defense that led to a 10-3 season, SoCon championship, FCS quarterfinal playoff appearance, and No. 6 ranking in the AFCA final poll.
Chizik saw action in 45 games and totaled 140 tackles and nine interceptions, including two “pick-sixes” as a Paladin. He was also a three-time SoCon Academic Honor Roll member.
A native of Auburn, Ala., he graduated in the spring of 2024 with a degree in communications.
