Clay Mazza

Clay Mazza was named Furman's new director of football operations on Feb. 7, 2020, by head coach Clay Hendrix.

Mazza comes to Furman following a five-year tenure at Stetson, where he coached tight ends and special teams.  Over the last two years he also served as the Hatters' director of football operations.

As tight ends coach he played a key role in the development of 2018 consensus All-American Donald Parham.

Mazza graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports management.  He was a three-year letterwinner as a tight end for the Bears, who claimed three South Atlantic Conference Championships and played for the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship in 2013 while he was in uniform.  He was also a three-time SAC Commissioner Honor Roll selection and member of L-R's Alpha Kappa Delta Honors Society.

As a senior he served as a student assistant coach with the Bears' offense and special teams.

Mazza, a native of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is engaged to Jennifer Ready.
