Former Furman men's basketball standout Daniel Fowler is in his fourth season with the Paladins and first as the assistant to the head coach. Fowler was named assistant to the head coach prior to the 2021-22 season.

In two seasons on the Furman staff, Fowler has helped the Paladins post a 50-15 overall record, 28-8 Southern Conference mark, and tally a school-record 25 wins in back-to-back seasons. The Paladins started the 2018-19 campaign with 12 straight wins, including victories over 2018 NCAA Final Four participant Loyola Chicago and defending national champion Villanova, to garner the school's first appearance in the Associated Press Top 25. After going 25-8 in 2018-19 and earning a trip the NIT for the first time since 1991, the Paladins went 25-7 in 2019-20 and finished second in the SoCon with a 15-3 mark.

A four-year starter for the Paladins, Fowler finished his playing career this past season ranked 29th in school history with 1,217 points, eighth in assists (369) and eighth in steals (153). The third team All-Southern Conference selection averaged 11.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in 2017-18 to pace the Paladins to their second consecutive 23-win campaign.

During his four seasons at Furman, Fowler helped guide the Paladins to 76 victories, the second most by any senior class in school history. As a junior, he led Furman to a 23-12 record, the Paladins' first Southern Conference regular season title in more than 25 years and a trip to the semifinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT). This past season, Fowler propelled the Paladins to a 23-9 overall mark and school-record 22 regular season wins.

A guard, Fowler averaged 9.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for his career, while playing in a school-record 133 games and making 127 starts. He shot 44.7% from the floor, 37% from behind the arc and converted on 74.5% of his trips to the foul line.

A native Acworth, Ga., and product of Allatoona High School, Fowler graduated from Furman in May with a degree in communications.
