Tyler Eckstein is in his fourth year with Furman Athletics Development and eighth overall working with Furman Athletics. Eckstein serves as Assistant Athletics Director for Development after previously holding the roles of Director of Athletics Development Operations and Coordinator of Athletics Development Operations. He transitioned to the development team in 2023 following four seasons with the Furman men’s basketball program.
In his current role, Eckstein supports the Athletics Development team’s fundraising and engagement efforts with a focus on annual giving, donor stewardship and experiences, hospitality, and special events. He also assists with the execution of fundraising initiatives and benefits designed to engage and recognize supporters of Furman Athletics. During the 2025–26 fiscal year, the Athletics Development team raised $13.09 million while setting new records with 3,909 total donors and 1,006 first-time donors.
The Durham, N.C., native began his professional career with the Paladins in 2019 as Video and Analytics Coordinator for men’s basketball before being promoted to Director of Basketball Operations in 2022. During his tenure with the program, Furman experienced historic success, highlighted by the 2022–23 season. The Paladins captured the Southern Conference regular-season championship, won the program’s first SoCon Tournament championship and earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1980, before defeating ACC champion Virginia, 68–67, for Furman’s first NCAA Tournament victory since 1974.
A 2019 Furman graduate with a degree in business administration, Eckstein’s involvement with Furman Athletics began as a student, serving as the men’s basketball head team manager from 2015–19. During his undergraduate career, he received the Unsung Hero Award from the Furman Shucker Leadership Institute, presented annually to students who, through their behind-the-scenes involvement, exemplify a commitment to enhancing campus life.
