James Roelofse Career Records

Junior Year (2020-21): 
Roelofse recorded a 10-7 overall singles mark and 4-2 SoCon record.  He opened the season with victories over Davidson (6-7(5), 6-2, 1-0(8)) and Gardner-Webb (6-3, 7-6(5)), both at flight six.  Later in the season Roelofse defeated Kennesaw State, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, and Elon, 6-3, 6-2.  In the SoCon, he earned wins versus The Citadel (6-4, 6-0), Chattanooga (6-1, 3-6, 6-1), Mercer (6-1, 3-6, 6-1), at flight six then moved up to flight five to defeat Wofford, 6-2, 6-4.  In the SoCon Championships, he beat both Samford (7-5, 6-1) and ETSU (6-3, 7-5).  In doubles, Roelofse registered four victories.  He teamed with Jake Bhangdia at flight one to beat Davidson (7-5) and Gardner-Webb (6-3).  Roelofse and Ivan Mitric played at flight two, handing a 7-6(5) loss to UNCG and defeating Stetson, 6-1.  Roelofse was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team.

Sophmore Year (2019-20):  Roelofse posted a 7-3 overall singles and 2-0 mark versus SoCon opponents.  He defeated Winthrop, 6-1, 6-1, at flight five then went on to score a 6-1, 6-3 victory over UNC Greensboro to open the conference season.  Roelofse notched four-consecutive straight-set wins versus Richmond (6-4, 6-1), The Citadel (6-2, 6-1), College of Charleston (6-2, 7-5), and Pacific (6-0, 6-0) just before the season was halted.  In doubles action, he went 5-6 overall and 1-1 in league play.  Roelofse teamed with Drew Singerman to beat Winthrop, 6-1, and Davidson, 6-2, at flight three before moving to flight two to team up with Chad Nash for a 6-1 victory over North Greenville.  Later in the season, Roelofse and Henrik Atlevi tallied a 6-2 advantage over The Citadel at flight two, and he teamed with Jake Bhangdia to defeat Pacific, 6-2.  Roelofse was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team.

Freshman Year (2018-19):  Roelofse recorded a 9-3 overall singles record and 5-0 SoCon mark, playing primarily at flight six.  He opened the season with victories over South Carolina State and Charlotte then put together a seven-match winning streak which began with a 6-0, 6-1 advantage over North Greenville on February 9 and ran through the Paladins’ April 20 victory over Mercer in the SoCon semifinals, where Roelofse posted a 6-4, 6-3 win.  Roelofse defeated both Wofford (3-6, 6-0, 6-1) and Chattanooga (6-2, 5-7, 6-4) in three sets to remain unbeaten in league play.  In doubles, Roelofse posted a 4-1 overall record.  He teamed with Ivan Mitric to defeat S.C. State, 6-2, at flight two, and Lipscomb, 6-3, at flight three.  He also teamed with Alex Steryous at flight three, where he earned wins over North Greenville (6-1) and The Citadel (6-4).  Roelofse was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Prep/Personal:  Roelofse captured all-region honors and was named the Stellenberg High Player of the Year after posting a 21-1 overall record during his junior season.  He helped Stellenberg to a Cape Town league championship in 2017 and the team also captured the title at the Curro Schools tournament.  Roelofse led Stellenberg to the Cradock Schools Championship in 2014 and Boland Schools tournament titles in both 2013 and 2014.  His school team went on to finish second at the Gerrie Berner tournament in 2014 and third in the Wayne Ferreira championships in 2014.  In 2015, Stellenberg won the Boland league title, and Roelofse''s Western-Cape tennis team placed third at the region championships.  James Alwyn Roelofse was born on April 4, 1999, in Capetown, South Africa.  He is the son of Pieter and Elize Roelofse.  He is studying health sciences.
