Biography

Junior Year (2010-11):  George posted a 5-2 doubles record, including a 1-1 league mark, all in the third-doubles slot.  He teamed with Tyler Droll for an 8-6 win at #51 Clemson, then two days later combined with Joel Cook to post an 8-4 win versus Marquette.  George and Marco Aru beat Army, 8-7, (5) in his final non-conference match of the season.  In Southern Conference action, George and Cook teamed up for an 8-5 win at The Citadel, then he partnered with Robbie Aru to beat the Bulldogs, 8-3, in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament.  George was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second-consecutive year. 

Sophomore Year (2009-10):  George saw action in two singles matches for the Paladins.  He posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Washington and Lee at number four singles and played in an unfinished match at number six singles versus UNC Asheville.  George recorded a 2-2 doubles at number three doubles.  He teamed with Carl Lundberg for an 8-4 win over Washington and Lee, then combined with Andrew Mellow for an 8-6 win at Chattanooga.  George was a member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Freshman Year (2008-09):  George teamed with Robert Bruner for a 2-0 record at no. 3 doubles.  The duo posted wins over UNC Asheville and Washington & Lee.  George also recorded a 0-1 singles mark in the no. 5 spot.

Prep/Personal: Watson George completed his prep career at the Memphis University School under head coach Bill Taylor. He helped his team to a state championship in 2005, and was the Tennessee State Doubles Champion in 2007. Watson was named to the Memphis City All-Metro Tennis team for four consecutive years, and also won the 2007 Tennessee State Tennis Sportsmanship Award. He was a 3-time Shelby County Commercial Appeal Bes of Preps Tennis Finalist and a two-time Best of Preps award winner. Lewis Watson George II was born on March 24, 1990 in Memphis, Tenn. He is the son of David and Edie George. His uncle, Jay Kreis played collegiate football at Clemson. A member of the Dean’s List, he is undecided on his major.
