Biography

Junior Year (2023-24):  Schulson was a member of the All-SoCon first team for doubles.  She teamed with Macy Hitchcock, and the Paladin duo went 5-2 in league play at flight one.  Schulson and Hitchcock put together a six-match winning stream mid-season beginning with a 6-1 victory over Quinnipiac on March 11 and continuing through the March 30 match versus Chattanooga, which Furman won in a tie breaker, 7-6(5). The Paladin top doubles team won, 6-4, over Western Carolina to open the SoCon tournament.  At the Blue Gray tournament, Schulson and Hitchcock played at flight two, where they defeated No. 26 Yale and Tulsa, both 6-1.  In singles, Schulson played primarily at flight three.  She notched nine wins on the season, including key three-set conference victories over UNC Greensboro, Chattanooga, and 64th-ranked ETSU.  Schulson was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the CSC Academic All-District Team and was honored as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Sophomore Year (2022-23):  Shulson was named to the All-SoCon first team for singles after posting a 7-14 overall record and 5-2 conference mark at flight one.  She tallied a nonconference victory over FAU then defeated Mercer, 6-2, 7-5, in the semifinals of the SoCon tournament to help the Paladins reach the finals for the sixth-consecutive time.  In doubles, she teamed with Marissa Pennings for a 9-11 overall mark and 4-3 conference record, playing primarily at flight two.  The Paladin duo defeated Yale twice and beat Mercer, 7-6(5), in the semifinals of the SoCon tournament.  Schulson was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, the CSC Academic All-District Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team. 

Freshman Year (2021-22):  Schulson was named to the All-SoCon second team at flight five singles and earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team after recording a 16-7 overall singles record and 6-1 league mark, playing at flights five and six.  She tallied a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 25 Auburn and defeated Wake Forest, 6-7(5), 6-4, 1-0(13-11).  Schulson posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 26 Alabama at the prestigious Blue Gray Tournament then defeated Clemson, 6-3, 6-2.  She beat Mercer, 6-1, 6-0, in the opening round of the SoCon tournament, helping the Paladins to the SoCon title.   In doubles, Schulson teamed with Madison Dillon for a 12-6 overall record and 4-3 SoCon mark.  The Paladin duo went 2-1 at flight one with victories over Virginia Tech (7-6(2) and UNCG (6-3) and scored a 10-5 record at flight two.  Schulson and Dillon were ranked 34th nationally after defeating No. 17 Oklahoma, 6-3, and No. 26 Alabama, 6-3, before beating No. 24 Texas Tech, 6-2.  The duo beat ETSU, 7-5, in the regular season finale to help clinch the Paladins’ SoCon title.  Schulson was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the ITA All-Academic Team. 

Prep/Personal:  A five-star recruit by www.tennisrecruiting.net, Schulson is the second-ranked player in Massachusetts and has ranked as high as 20th nationally.  She achieved a number one USTA sectional ranking for 12, 14, and 16 year old age groups and currently ranks second among 18s.  Schulson, who won four national open singles tournaments, has received multiple USTA sportsmanship awards.  Schulson ran cross country and track for Newburyport High, where she won all-conference accolades as a freshman and sophomore.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and was honored as the Newburyport Business Student of the Year.  Eleanor Chrstine Schulson was born on November 30, 2002, in Newburyport, Mass.  She is the daughter of Jana and Nick Schulson.  Schulson is a business administration major.
