Abigail Casillas was named Furman’s associate athletic trainer in June of 2026. She will work with the Paladins’ men’s basketball and men’s golf programs.
A Greenville native, Casillas returns to her hometown after spending 2025-26 as an athletic trainer with the Vanderbilt men’s basketball program. In that role, she provided holistic, evidence-based care to student-athletes, served as the team’s nutritional liaison during travel, and helped foster interdisciplinary collaboration among members of the Sports Performance team.
Prior to working at Vanderbilt, Casillas gained clinical experience across a variety of settings, including collegiate and high school athletics, and surgical rotations. Most notably, she spent the spring and summer of 2025 at Georgia Tech, working primarily with the football team while also gaining experience with baseball, women’s basketball, and track and field. In the fall and winter of 2024, she worked with the men’s basketball team at Georgia State.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from Bob Jones University in 2023 before receiving her Master of Science in athletic training from the University of North Georgia in 2025.
Casillas is certified in dry needling and is a licensed athletic trainer in South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee.
