Furman's Lady Paladin volleyball team improved to 3-4 on the year with a 3-1 (26-30, 30-24, 30-25, 30-21) victory over East Tennessee State Tuesday night in Johnson City, Tenn.
The Lady Paladins outblocked the Bucs 11.0 to 8.0 and hit .233 in the win. Whitney Purser paced the Furman attack with 16 kills, while Kerry Wooten added 14 kills, four total blocks, and three service aces to the effort. Ally Hock added five kills and 10 digs, while Celestee Wilson anchored Furman's net defense with four block solos and three block assists on the evening. Kim Tonkin racked up 21 digs for her second 20-plus dig match of the season.
After losing game one 30-26, Furman bounced back to take a six point victory in game two and a five point win in game three. In game four, with the match on the line, the Lady Paladins hit a blistering .432, tallying 18 kills and only two errors on 37 total attempts to down the Bucs by nine, 30-21, and take the match victory.
ETSU was led on the night by Callie Kiselich, who recorded 14 kills.
Furman returns to action on Friday with an 8 p.m. match against Auburn.
