#2 Georgia Shuts Out #68 Furman 7-0

Athens, GA - The 68th ranked Furman men's tennis team was shut out Sunday by 2nd ranked Georgia 7-0. The loss drops Furman to 1-6 on the year with the Bulldogs improving to 4-0.

Georgia took an early 1-0 lead after capturing two of the three doubles points. In flight one Luis Flores and John Isner downed Greg Maarschalk and Ben Pauluhn 8-3 while in flight two Georgia's 6th ranked team of Strahinia Bobusic and Colin Purcell defeated Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman. Furman picked up a win in flight three with Scott Kahler and Will Kieffer outlasting Ricardo Gonzalez and Joshua Varela 8-7(7-4) but the Bulldogs had already secured the doubles point. Georgia carried the early momentum into singles play as they captured all six singles matches in straight sets to make the final score 7-0.

The Paladins return home on Friday for a double header against Sewanee and Erskine. Match times are set for 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM respectively.
