Tallahassee, FL - The Furman men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match to Nebraska Friday night, but bounced back for a 5-2 win over Pennsylvania on Saturday. The victory gave the Paladins their first win on the year, taking a 1-3 record into tomorrow's match against Florida State.

In the Friday match against Nebraska, Furman jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. Seniors Ben Pauluhn and Greg Maarschalk teamed up for an 8-3 win over James Clow and Adrian Szatmary at No.2 and in flight three Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman downed Renato Melo and Joerg Barthel 8-1. Nebraska shook off the early deficit and went on to win four of the six singles matches to make the final score 4-3. Picking up wins for the Paladins were Andy Juc in flight two and Brian Crook at No.6.

Saturday's match against Pennsylvania began the same as the Nebraska match with Ben Pauluhn and Greg Maarschalk pairing for a victory and Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman doing the same. Entering the singles portion of the match with a 1-0 lead, Furman added four singles matches to the win column, giving the Paladins a 5-2 victory for the day. In flight one Furman's Ben Pauluhn downed Jason Pinsky 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 while fellow Paladin Daniel Knause defeated Joseph Lok 6-4, 6-4 in flight four. Playing at No. 5 Furman freshman Bo Ladyman eased by Jimmy Fairbanks 6-3, 6-1 and Alex Doan edged Brandon O'Gara 3-6, 7-6(1), 6-3 for the final Paladin victory.

The Furman men return to action on Sunday with a 2:00 PM match against Florida State in Tallahassee, FL.
