The Furman men's tennis team improved to 10-9 on the season, 2-0 in conference play with a 5-2 win over Georgia Southern on Saturday.
Furman took the 1-0 advantage with three quick wins in doubles play. In singles the Paladins won the first four matches in straight sets to secure the Furman victory. In flight two Andy Juc defeated Philip Prins 6-2, 6-0 while in flight four Bo Ladyman cruised by Neil Shine 6-1, 6-0. Daniel Knause won his flight four match over Daniel Harden 6-1, 6-1 and at No.6 Chris Gilli downed Jakub Hanuss 6-3, 6-2. In the flight one match Georgia Southern's Vincent Patry won in a third set tie-breaker over Ben Pauluhn 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(4) and the Eagle's Joris De Weerdt won in flight three over Greg Maarschalk 3-6, 7-6(8), 10-7 to give Georgia Southern two victories on the day.
The Paladins return to action on Tuesday, March 28 when they travel to Charlotte for a make-up match against the 49ers at 2:30 PM.
