The 75th ranked Furman men's tennis team completed their regular season schedule with a 5-2 win over UT Chattanooga Thursday afternoon. The win moved the Paladins to 17-10 on the year with an 8-1 record in the Southern Conference.
Furman fell behind early after dropping two of the three doubles matches. Despite the early deficit the Paladins won five of the six singles matches in straight sets to secure the 5-2 victory. In flight one Ben Pauluhn downed Ryan Fitzgerald 6-4, 6-3 and in flight two Andy Juc cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Artyom Vlasenko. Playing at No.4 Bo Ladyman battled for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mark Fynn while in flight five Daniel Knause held off Razvan Axente 7-5, 6-2. In the flight six match Chris Gilli ousted Josh Bales 6-2, 6-2. Chattanooga picked up a victory in flight three with Badr Bouabdellah downing Greg Maarschalk 6-3, 6-2.
With an 8-1 Southern Conference record the Paladins will receive the No.2 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament and get a bye in the first round. The Paladins' first match will be Friday, April 21 on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Match time will be announced at a later date.
