Paladins Finish 11th At Southern Conference Golf Championship

Florence, S.C. – J.B. Murphy posted a two-under 70 to pace the Furman Paladins during the final round of the Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship at the par-72 Country Club of South Carolina on Tuesday in Florence, S.C.

The Paladins (299-302-299=900) finished in 11th place while Georgia Southern (287-292-282=861) rallied with a final round 282 to edge UNC Greensboro (+2) and Chattanooga (+3) for the team title.

Davidson's Richard Fountain (68-72-67=207) finished at nine-under to nip Georgia Southern's Lewis Gruber by one stroke to claim individual honors.  Murphy, a native of Columbia, S.C., led Furman with a 20th place finish after playing the back nine at one-under and notching an eagle and two birdies over his final eight holes.  

Furman's Matt Brown (+10) fired a 74 on Tuesday while junior Matt Broome (+9) carded a final round 75.
