Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Southern Conference play and halted Furman's four-match winning streak Friday with a 6-1 win at the CofC Tennis Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars took the opening point after winning two out of three doubles matches. Kyle parker and Mickael Trintignac defeated sophomores Alex Christ and Joel Cook, 8-5, in the top doubles match, then Paladin juniors Tyler Droll and Andrew Mellow knotted the score with an 8-2 win over Tom Delme and Alon Faiman in the second-seeded match. College of Charleston clinched the point as Stephen Hardy and Billy Kenny combined to defeat freshmen Jacob Behal and Luke Synn, 8-4, in the third doubles contest.
In singles play, the Cougars won five out of six matches for the team victory. Trintignac defeated Mellow, 6-3, 7-5, in the top match, while Delme bested Christ, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10) in a close second-seeded match-up. Parker posted a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win over Cook at number three singles, then Crescente Lesser defeated junior Robbie Aru, 6-3, 6-4, at number four. Alon Faiman topped Synn, 6-1, 6-2, in the sixth-seeded contest.
Droll scored the Paladins lone point, notching a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 victory over Brice Allanic at number five singles.
Furman (8-13, 5-3 SoCon) continues its road swing next Wednesday when the Paladins play at Appalachian State at 2 p.m. in the team's final regular season road match.
College of Charleston improved to 12-3 overall and 6-0 in league play with Friday's victory.
