Spartanburg, S.C. – The Furman men's golf team carded back-to-back rounds of 291 to hold ninth place after 36 holes in the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational on Monday at the par-72 Country Club of Spartanburg.
Senior Anthony Aloi (-1) is tied for 15th place after shooting an even-par 72 in the opening round before firing a one-under 71 in the afternoon round. Teammate Matt Brown (+1), currently tied for 27th place, posted a two-under 70 in the first round and carded a three-over 75 in round two. Freshman Wehman Hopke (+2) notched a 71 in the afternoon round to move into a share of 34th place.
The Paladins (+6) trail tournament leaders Wofford (-19) by 25 strokes through 36 holes with East Tennessee State (-11), Appalachian State (-8), Radford (-5) and Elon (+1) rounding out the top five in the 16-team field.
The Terriers' Charles Moore backed up a first round 69 with a five-under 67 on Monday afternoon to hold a one-shot lead.
Final round action is set for Tuesday with a shotgun start set for 9:30 a.m.
