Box Score Greenville, S.C. – The Furman lacrosse team dropped a 13-10 decision to Richmond on Saturday afternoon in front of 767 fans in Paladin Stadium. With the win, the Spiders move to 3-8 on the year and nab their first A-Sun win of their inaugural season. The Paladins fall to 0-10 in their first year, including 0-2 in conference play.
Scott Primeau, Graham Dabbs and Chase Hancock each recorded two goals for the Paladins, who, as a team, scored the most goals in program history (10). Matt Geran, Zach Coker, Clay Adams and Ralph D'Agostino each added a goal for Furman, while Dabbs, Adams, Primeau and Hil Blaze (2) registered assists for Furman.
The Paladins jumped out to an early lead as Hil Blaze won the game's opening faceoff and tossed the ball to Graham Dabbs who scored just 12 seconds into the game. The Paladins added another goal just over a minute later when Clay Adams got his sixth of the season to put Furman up 2-0 with 13:39 remaining. Richmond then scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead, until Zach Coker netted his fifth goal of the season to tie the game at three. Blaze won the ensuing faceoff and sent the ball to Ralph D'Agostino who scored his first goal of the season to put Furman up 4-3.
Furman scored the first goal of the second quarter less than a minute in to take a 5-3 lead, as Chase Hancock got his fourth of the season with 14:05 remaining in the half. Richmond then scored two unanswered goals to tie the game at five before Graham Dabbs netted his second goal of the day to put the Paladins up 6-5 heading into halftime, marking Furman's first halftime lead of the season.
Furman continued the scoring in the third quarter, getting a goal from Matt Geran with 10:54 remaining to put the Paladins up 7-5. Scott Primeau then scored with 3:42 remaining to give Furman its largest lead of the game at 8-5. Richmond netted a goal with 2:22 remaining to cut Furman's lead to 8-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
Chase Hancock scored an early goal in the fourth quarter to put Furman up 9-6, before Richmond scored three consecutive goals to tie the game at nine. Scott Primeau scored his second goal of the day to put the Paladins up 10-9 with 8:34 remaining, but Richmond scored four unanswered goals to steal the game from the Paladins, 13-10.
Furman continues Atlantic Sun play on Saturday, April 12, at VMI in a 12:00 pm contest.
